Charles “Chuck” McCall Sharpe, Sr.
A Man of Integrity -
Charles “Chuck” McCall Sharpe, Sr., age 83, of Carlisle, went home on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Chuck was born on Wednesday, September 8, 1937, in Lyons, GA to the late Frederick McCall Sharpe and Kitty Maude (Keel) Sharpe. In addition to his parents, Chuck is preceded in death by his son, Frederick J. Sharpe, Sr.
Chuck’s survivors include his wife of 60 years, Blanche Louise (Richards) Sharpe; his two sons: Charles “Chuck” Sharpe, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Mechanicsburg, and Brian Sharpe; his seven grandchildren: Cameron, Courtnee, Fred, Jason, Matthew, Tiffanie, and William; and his eight great-grandchildren: Arabella, Emily, Henry, Jacob, Peyton, Price-William, RaeLynn, and Terra.
Charles was a loving and devoted son and would soon be required to drop out of school in order to help on the family farm in Georgia until his enlistment in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957. Later he would go onto earn his High School Diploma by way of a GED certificate while in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958-1971. After being medically retired from the Marines in 1971 from wounds received during his tours in Vietnam, Charles returned to his hometown of Lyons GA. He then pursued a Law Enforcement career in many locations across Georgia, Toombs County (Lyons), Gwinnet County (Brunswick), Ware County (Waycross), Brantley County (Nahunta), and finally Paulding County (Dallas). During that time, Charles would go on to complete his BS Degree in Criminal Science from South Georgia College in Douglas, GA. After a short retirement from Law enforcement, Charles once again went back to work for the Marines as a Moral Welfare and Recreations Supervisor at Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville, NC until his final retirement in 2005. Charles was a lifelong Christian and has attended many church services throughout his life of many faiths across the world. He is in good standing as a Free Mason in Toombs County and is a Shriner.
Chuck’s immediate services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Public services will be announced once scheduled.
