Charlotte E. (Reitz) Leitzel Sivick

Charlotte E. (Reitz) Leitzel Sivick, 94, of Berwick , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died at home on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.  She was born in Montandon, on Wednesday, September 25, 1918, daughter of the late Howard Wesley Reitz and Esther (Owen) Reitz.  Charlotte was the widow of Lester Lawrence Leitzel to whom she was married for 34 years and who died in July 1974, and of Edward Michael Sivick to whom she was married for 8 years and who died in September 2008.

Charlotte’s survivors include her son, Raymond Leitzel of Berwick; her daughter, Polly Leitzel Truax and her husband Douglas of Berwick; her step-daughter, Karen Deck and her husband Ron of Pawleys Island, SC; three grandchildren, Tracey Evans and her husband Christopher of Pittsburgh, Tricia Truax of Berwick, Trina Truax Davenport and her husband Thomas of South Williamsport; three great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, “Charley”, who will sorely miss her.  Among those preceding Charlotte in death are her three brothers, Myron, Elmer and Carl Reitz.

Charlotte graduated from Sunbury High School and studied cosmetology in Philadelphia.  She owned and operated Leitzel’s Beauty Shop in Mechanicsburg for 40 years.  Charlotte worked diligently for the Cumberland County Association for Retarded Citizens , raising money for residential living homes.  She was the Regional Vice-President for Pennsylvania Association of Retarded Persons for many years.  Charlotte was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg.

All are welcome to join Charlotte’s family at her viewing on Friday, February 22, 2013 from 12:00 until time of service at 12:30 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Pastor Ralph Hartenbaugh officiating.  Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Mechanicsburg. Charlotte’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at West Main Family Restaurant , 710 W. Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, following the burial.
