Christine “Tina” J. (Wonders) Cassel

Had a Heart Full of Love -

Christine “Tina” J. Cassel, age 65, of Carlisle, died at home surrounded by her loving family and friends on Monday, September 24, 2018, after a short, but hard battle with cancer.  Tina was born on June 28, 1953 in Harrisburg to the late John Wonders and Charlotte Mae (Steiner) Warren.  In addition to her parents, Tina is preceded in death by her two brothers: Wilbert, Fred; her sister, Jeannie; her two nephews: Jimmy Myers, Robert Cassel III; and her two nieces: Jody Betz, Tonya Myers.

Tina's survivors include her husband of 47 years, Dennis “Denny” C. Cassel; her three children: John Cassel and his wife, Michele,  of Westminster, MD, Crystal Kramer and her husband, Frankie B., of Mechanicsburg, Deni Cassel of Mechanicsburg; her six grandchildren, all of whom brought her the most joy: Colton Kramer, Jordan Cruz, Aydee Lopez, Ryann Kramer, Morgan Cassel, Brenden Cassel; her sister, Marge Horning of Mechanicsburg; several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly; and her beloved canine companions: Macy and Zula.

Tina's heart was big and she had an open door policy.  She loved being surrounded by family and friends clear to the end.  Tina was not only blessed with a 28-year friendship with her best friend, Jeannette Bender, but also with her good friends: Diane Bonsell and Val Brosend.  She also enjoyed trips to Myrtle Beach to visit Jerry and Melisse Barrick, who she treated as one of her own.

Tina graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 1992 where she obtained her GED.  She retired from The Bridges at Bent Creek in Mechanicsburg after being diagnosed with cancer.  Her passion was taking care of the residents that she loved and cared for as if they were her own parents.  She was involved in the Alzheimer's Foundation, and did numerous walks to help raise money for cancer foundations.   Tina had many hobbies, however her favorite was spending time with family and friends.  She enjoyed game nights, paint parties, and anything that involved making memories.  Tina looked forward to her yearly trips to Sight & Theatre and Dienner’s Country Restaurant in Lancaster with her sister.  Her favorite holiday was Christmas and all the decorations.  She also fell in love with Hobby Lobby where she had planned on doing her Christmas shopping.

Tina's heart was so full of love and she left behind memories that will be cherished forever.  She will be missed beyond words.

All are welcome to join Tina’s family at her viewing on Monday, October 1, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 and on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a service to begin at 11:15 a.m. at Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church, 1050 South York Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Jerry A. Barrick officiating.  Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle.  Honored to be pallbearers are: John Cassel, Jordan Cruz, Robert Horning, Jr., Colton Kramer, Frank Kramer, and Aydee Lopez.  Tina’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church following the burial.
