A Well-Respected Man -

C. Jack Koser, age 89, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022.  Jack was born on Friday, July 22, 1932, in Mechanicsburg to the late Carroll Edward Koser and Ann (Olenik) Koser.  In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Koser.

Jack’s survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Grace Arlene (Thumma) Koser; his daughter, Cindy L. Hertweck and husband, Peter, of Dillsburg; his sister, Roxann K. Guyer of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Jack graduated from Mechanicsburg High School.  He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was stationed at Camp Gordon in Georgia.  Jack first worked for Bethlehem Steel and then retired from PennDOT, after 34 years of service working as a construction inspector.  Jack was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg.  He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #109 in Mechanicsburg.  Jack traveled the world with Grace and loved every minute of it.  He enjoyed taking pictures to share with family and friends.  Jack and Grace were also diehard Philadelphia Phillies fans.  He took such pride in his home and loved working in the yard; his row of azaleas and red geraniums were the talk of the neighborhood.  Jack always had to keep busy and was always happy to help anyone who needed him.  He was very respected through his life.  Jack was the best husband, father, and provider for his family.  He was the most organized person and had his life in order.  Jack will be missed very much.

To help keep everyone safe and healthy, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Interment in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Enola will occur at the convenience of the family.  Cremation was private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in celebration of Jack’s life can be made to First United Methodist Church, 135 West Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, www.fumchurch.com/Donations/.
