Clair William Ort
Kind to Everyone -
Clair William Ort, age 75, of Steelton, passed away at home with his loving family by his side on Thursday, December 16, 2021. In addition to his parents, Clair is preceded in death by his six brothers: Herman W., Clarence E., Charles E., Donald R., Ronald L., and Dale L. Ort; his two sisters: Dorothy M. and Joanne R. Ort; and his beloved canine companion, Mattie.
Clair’s survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Martha Jane (Stepp) Ort; his two brothers: Clayton B. Ort and wife, Iris, of York Haven, PA and Barry D. Ort and wife, Sherry, of FL; his sister, Pauline Y. Schaefer and husband, Elwood, of York, PA; and his sister-in-law, Grace Matlock and husband, Ronald Keyton, of Harrisburg, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Clair retired from Construction & General Laborers’ Local Union 1180 in Harrisburg, after 15 years of service working as a construction worker. He was a longtime member of Harrisburg First Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Harrisburg. Clair proudly served in the United States Army where he spent some time stationed in Germany. He loved to show everyone the set of matching beer steins he brought back home. Clair enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, watching old western movies, and walking his dog, Mattie. He was quite the woodworker that always had a project. Some of what he made included a train set that took up the whole basement and various pieces of furniture for every family member. Clair will be most remembered for the kindness he showed to everyone.
