Claire Wong Crego, age 35, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022.  Claire was born on Friday, February 27, 1987, in Hong Kong, China and came to her forever family in 1989.  

Claire’s survivors include her father, Geoffrey “Geoff” Bowman Crego of Camp Hill; her mother, Christine “Chrissy” Dixon of Mechanicsburg; her brother, Adam Crego; her two sisters: Meghan Crego and Sarah Rathbun and her spouse, Andrew Kreider; her nephew, Austin; her loving companion, Tip Hansen; her life-long best friend, Britta Waltz; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  

Claire was an advocate, athlete, peer leader, and gold medalist with Area M Special Olympics.  She participated in several sports, including tennis, volleyball, and power lifting.  Claire was also an advocate for ARC of Cumberland and Perry counties, as well as a resident at an ARC facility.  She addressed the state legislature on several occasions on the need for funding for programs for adults with disabilities.  Claire was an active member of the West Shore Free Church, where she held a leadership role with the church’s community for adults with disabilities.  She helped to organize various activities for the group, known as the A Team.  Claire was a loving, giving, and caring person who never met a stranger and possessed an infectious giggle.  She was an example of all that is good in this world and will be sorely missed by many.  

All are welcome to join Claire’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Monday, September 12, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Cremation was private.  

Contributions in celebration of Claire’s life can be made in her name to Area M Special Olympics, 55 Miller Street, Enola, PA 17025.
