Clair “Pete” Victor Runk, 85, of Mechanicsburg died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at home. He was born on Thursday, July 8, 1926 in Mechanicsburg the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Brubaker) Runk. Pete was the widower of Mildred L (Campbell) Runk.
Pete was a long-time member for over 65 years of American Legion Post 109. He was an avid bowler and was a member of the Harrisburg District Bowling Hall of Fame. Pete served as Past President of the Harrisburg Bowling Association. He was also a founding member of Mechanicsburg Museum Assocation. Pete was a family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Pete’s survivors include his two loving sons: Michael S Runk and wife Courtney of New Cumberland; Casey A Runk of Mechanicsburg; and four grandchildren: Tonya Venti and husband Jason of Camp Hill; Brandon Runk of Enola; Haley Sheetz of New Cumberland; Cadee Runk of New Cumberland. Pete was preceded in death by his wife: Mildred L. (Campbell) Runk; three brothers: Leo Runk; Brice Runk; Russ Runk; and one sister: Pauline Runk.
All are welcome to join Pete’s family at his viewing on Friday, October 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Myers-Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421, www.Myers-Buhrig.com ; and his funeral service on Saturday, October 8 at 10:00 at Myers-Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , with Reverend Dr. Charles Hostetter officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery where military honors will be presented.
