Clara “Anne” Anne (Kingsborough) Mentzer, age 84, of Carlisle, and formerly of Harrisburg, died on Saturday, January 6, 2024. Anne was born on Saturday, February 11, 1939, in Wormleysburg to the late Norman Leroy Kingsborough and Martha Belle (Rynard) Kingsborough. In addition to her parents, Anne is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Davidson; and her beloved canine companions: Bailey, Copper, Cody, and Gypsy.
Anne’s survivors include her husband of 21 years, Philip “Phil” Edward Mentzer; her five children: Suzanne “Sue” DeLancey Hair and her husband, Joel, of Mechanicsburg, Robert “Bob” Steven Mentzer of Harrisburg, Michaelle Lorraine Trolinger of Harrisburg, Philip Russell Mentzer and his wife, JoAnne, of Mechanicsburg, James Lamar Mentzer and his wife, Kim, of Enterprise, AL; her nine grandchildren: Karson Hair, Rachel Mentzer, Gina Mentzer, Julia Yarlett and her husband, Dennis, Heather Kumler and her husband, Zack, Ashley Jones and her husband, Shane, Megan Mentzer, Jessica Floyd and her husband, Hunter, Sarah Mentzer; her seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful animal companions: Daisy, Tucker, and Lucy.
Anne graduated from Susquehanna Township High School as part of the class of 1957. She worked as a secretary for the Bell Telephone Company and later as an Administrative Assistant with Dauphin Distribution Services and Exel Logistics. Anne attended the Susquehanna Valley Church in Harrisburg for many years with her sister, Betsy. Since then, she has attended St. Katharine Drexel Church in Mechanicsburg where she helped on election day and for community dinners. Anne enjoyed being outdoors. She loved walking and was a longtime member of the Susquehanna Rovers Volksmarch Club where she served as the club historian. She was an avid reader and always enjoyed going to the Friends Night of the Simpson Library book sales in Mechanicsburg. She enjoyed eating out with friends and family, going to local craft shows, cooking, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and taking care of her beloved pets. She will be dearly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
All are welcome to join Anne’s family at her viewing on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 10:15 a.m. until time of service at 11:15 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Anne’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service. Burial will follow the reception in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.
