C. “Neadie” Oneida (Gill) Rock

C. “Neadie” Oneida (Gill) Rock, 81, of Mechanicsbur g, died Sunday, May 27, 2012. She was born in Cumberland County on Sunday, August 31, 1930, daughter of the late William Zook Gill and Carrie Ardella (Laughman) Gill.  Oneida was the widow of Robert Sherwood Rock to whom she was married for 43 years.

Oneida graduated from Mechanicsburg High School. She was employed at Bell Telephone until she moved to West Chester where she volunteered at the hospital for many years. Oneida was a member of Shiremanstown United Methodist Church and enjoyed bible study on Wednesday mornings and many other church activities. She was also a member of the Railroad Retirement Association .

Oneida’s survivors include four siblings, Peggy Hofer and her husband Burton of Mechanicsburg, Albert Gill and his wife Jean of York Springs, Fred Gill of Chapel Pointe in Carlisle, John Gill and his wife Colleen of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to join Oneida’s family at her visitation on Saturday, June 2, 2012, from 9:30 until time of service at 10:30 at Shiremanstown United Methodist Church , 125 East Main Street, Shiremanstown.  Burial of her cremated remains will be private and at the convenience of the family in Philadelphia Memorial Park , Malvern, PA . Oneida’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church following the service.
