Mike graduated from Calvert Hall High School as part of the class of 1958, and subsequently joined the United States Marine Corps. He was accepted and graduated with distinction in 1966, having risen to the position of Regimental Commander. Upon graduation Mike served at sea aboard the USS Porterfield in the Vietnam conflict, and later the USS Nantahala before moving on the the US Navy Reserve and beginning his professional civilian career.

Mike was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Navy; it’s traditions, rituals and customs became part of his identity. There were few things he enjoyed more than bringing family members to a football game at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. Mike had a passion for music; he played the saxophone, loved to listen to jazz and big-band, and attended the Baltimore Symphony regularly. Many cherished moments were spent at his beach house in Ocean Pines, MD. He volunteered at Trinity High School for many years even after Todd and Lori had graduated. Mike was a very involved grandfather, who was present at his grandchildren’s activities. He also loved having family games night’s where everyone would gather to play both board games and card games. Family poker nights were his favorite. His family will greatly miss his love and devotion.
