Caught More Hearts than Prey -

Dale “Sam” Lamar Sitlinger, age 54, of Manchester , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died at York Hospital on Monday, June 2, 2014.  Dale was born on Sunday, March 20, 1960 in Harrisburg, PA, son of the late Carl Richard Sitlinger and Pauline Jean (Snyder) Richards.  In addition to his parents, Dale is preceded in death by his twin sister, Gail Sitlinger.

Dale’s survivors include his daughter, Jessica Lynn Sitlinger of Mechanicsburg; his son, Jason Sitlinger of Carlisle; his four sisters, Linda Fowler and her husband Joe of Catawissa, Jane Bogart and her husband Joseph of Millville, Polly Troutman and her husband Robert of Marysville, Mary Edwards and Ronald of Berwick; and several nieces and nephews.

Dale graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1979.  He worked as a welder at Panagraphics in Dover, PA.  A man with an amazing work ethic, Dale missed only a hand full of work days in his many years.  Soft spoken, dependable and trustworthy he was a wonderful man who was admired by many.  Always giving, he was known as a great neighbor who enjoyed helping others.  Dale loved his children and was a devoted father.  His children remember him as an avid hunter and fisherman, who caught more hearts than he did prey, and they will always cherish the quality time they shared with their father.

All are welcome to join Dale’s family at his viewing on Friday, June 6, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Kurt V. Hertzberg officiating.  Dale’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Hoss's Steak & Sea House , 61 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, immediately following the services.  Cremation will be private with scattering at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers you spend some quality time fishing with your family or just enjoying the outdoors together.  True to his giving spirit, Dale was an organ and tissue donor with the Gift of Life Donor Program .
