David Alan Bartlett, 64, of Mechanicsburg , died unexpectedly at home on Monday, April 15, 2013.  He was born in Durham, North Carolina, on Saturday, July 3, 1948, son of the late George Wilkinson Bartlett and Barbara (Aindow) Bartlett.  David was the husband of Helen (Sipe) Bartlett whom he married on February 12, 1972, and who survives him.  David’s survivors also include his son, Michael Sean Bartlett; his daughter, Sarah Elena Mercedes Bartlett; and his sister Debra Thomas of Virginia.

David graduated from J.E.B. Stuart High School in Falls Church, Virginia, as part of the class of 1966 and from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University in 1976.  He was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Families through Adoption .  David was the Senior Director of Systems Support Information Services for the Rite Aid Corporation with over 32 years of service having begun on December 7, 1981.  He was proud to have earned his Eagle Scout Rank in 1964 and he served as a Scout Master, Cub Master and Den Leader for the Boy Scouts of America for over 15 years.  David loved golf, model railroads and Big Band music.  He was a loving husband and father and he will never be forgotten.

All are welcome to join David’s family at his Celebration of Life Gathering and viewing on Sunday, April 21, 2013, from 2:00 to 5:30 with a Boy Scout Salute at 3:30 immediately followed by a Time of Remembrance Service all to be held at the Silver Spring Township Banquet Center , 6471 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, with Reverend Skip Davis officiating.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Mechanicsburg Cemetery , where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard .  Honored to be pallbearers are: Michael Bartlett, Sarah Bartlett and Dwight West.  David’s family hopes that their family and friends will join them for this time of fellowship, remembrance and celebration of David’s life.

The family respectfully asks that contributions be made in David’s memory for the benefit of his children.  Checks should be made payable to David Bartlett and mailed to Myers – Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
