David "Dave" Jon Walter

May 12, 1942 — April 2, 2024

Mechanicsburg

David “Dave” Jon Walter, age 81, of Mechanicsburg died on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Dave was born on Tuesday, May 12, 1942, in Mechanicsburg to the late John Herschman Walter and Alice Leona (Smith) Walter.  In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his brother, Mark Walter.

Dave is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sarah “Sally” Ann (Isenberg) Walter.

Dave graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1960 and attended Penn State York.  Dave served proudly in the United States Navy Seabees.  He retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #143 in 2004, after years of service working as an Electrician.  Dave was a member of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church.  He was a member of the Elks in Carlisle.  Dave enjoyed bowling and racing.  He had a passion for Corvettes.  Dave was a member of the Susquehanna Valley Vintage Sports Car Club, Blue Moon Cruisers, Sports Car Club of America, the PA Hill Climb Club, and many others.  He was a member of the Cumberland Valley Corvette Club since 1965.  Dave loved to race his many Corvettes that he owned over the years.  He would either drive his Corvettes or trailer them to the many National Council of Corvette Club Conventions.  Since 1972 David and Sally attended all but two of these conventions.  He will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
