David Allan Ditmer

David Allan Ditmer, age 79, of Mechanicsburg, died at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital on Saturday, February 17, 2018.  David was born on Tuesday, October 18, 1938 in Mechanicsburg to the late Charles Edward Ditmer and Mossie Catherine (Wennell) Ditmer.  In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother, Russell Ditmer.

David’s survivors include his wife of 51 years, Daris Marie (Pifer) Ditmer; his two sons: Michael Allen Ditmer; Mark Levi Ditmer and his companion of 16 years, Shannon Zaplitny; his brother, Charles Ditmer, Jr.; and his two sisters: Jean Turner and Barbara Carbaugh.

David was a life-long and faithful disciple of the Church of the Brethren and most recently attended at the Carlisle First Church of the Brethren.  For over 51 years, David was a dedicated employee of the J.S. Woodhouse Company.  Above all, he was a loving husband and father who was devoted to his family.

All are welcome to join David’s family at his viewing on Thursday, February 22, 2018, from 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 12:30 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Jim Abe officiating.  Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.  David’s family invites everyone to join them for a Dutch treat time of food and fellowship at Hoss's Steak & Sea House, 61 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, immediately following the burial.
