David “Mike” Michael Faust, born on September 4, 1946, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024. Mike is predeceased by his mother: Margaret Unger Faust, his father: Wilmer Clyde Faust Jr, and his brother: Wilmer Clyde Faust III. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, friendship, and love that touched countless lives throughout his remarkable journey.
Mike dedicated a portion of his career in education as a science teacher for the Harrisburg School District. His passion for science was paralleled by his extensive experience in the insurance industry, where he served as a Casualty Claims Supervisor at the Insurance Company of North America (CIGNA) and also worked as a Litigation Specialist for Donegal Mutual Insurance Company. His professional journey exemplified diligence and dedication, earning him the admiration of colleagues and students alike. Mike was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Science and Biology at Susquehanna University.
In every aspect of his life, Mike exemplified a heartfelt commitment to fostering connections with others. He had an extraordinary ability to see the unique qualities in each person he encountered, “A Friend to Everyone.” Family held a special place in his heart, and he cherished the bonds he formed, nurturing those friendships throughout his lifetime. Mike had a deep and abiding faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mike’s personality was vibrant and inviting. With an unwavering willingness to assist anyone in need, he was known as true people person. His love for sports was evident; he was an exceptional racquetball and tennis player, and was an exceptional baseball and softball player. His enthusiasm for music was boundless. He could name almost any tune, reflecting his deep appreciation for melodies and genres.
Throughout his life, Mike enjoyed a plethora of hobbies and interests. He found joy in gardening, bird watching, and spending cherished moments at the Jersey Shore. He kept active by working outside, participating in workouts at the Y, and enjoying long walks in nature, accompanied by his beloved wife, Denise. Mike was also a loyal supporter of the Mechanicsburg Club for sixty years, exemplifying his commitment to community and camaraderie. He relished in the simple pleasures, whether it was savoring all-you-can-eat crabs, attending Mechanicsburg Club picnics, or cheering for the Phillies, Eagles, and Penn State games. Cousins’ night, a good movie, and cooking on the grill were among the many cherished pastimes that brought joy to his life. Mike loved the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, when he would spend valuable time with his family.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Denise Marie Faust, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. His legacy of love and friendship will endure, forever etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. In this time of remembrance, we honor a life well lived, enriched by countless meaningful connections.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for October 11, 2024, at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, LTD. In Mechanicsburg, PA starting at 12:00 PM, followed by a visitation from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Buhrig’s Gathering Place.
