David “Dave” Glen Harris
Loved the Outdoors -
David “Dave” Glen Harris, age 70, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Dallas, TX, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Dave was born on Friday, June 29, 1951, in Dallas, TX to the late Rube Harris and Thelma Jo (Bowers) Harris. In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his beloved poodle, Buddy.
Dave’s survivors include his wife of 36 years, Sharon Marie (Engle) Harris; his two sisters: Catherine A. Uberman of Bedford, TX and Carolyn Sue Dunmyer and husband, David, of Aledo, TX; and his niece, Christine Dunmyer.
Dave graduated from Trinity High School as part of the class of 1970. Dave is an owner/operator who drove his truck for SEI and Wall Street Intermodal in Harrisburg. He attended Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church (McBIC) in Mechanicsburg. Dave loved to be outdoors. He and Sharon enjoyed going out on their boat and camping in their cozy pop up camper. Dave also spent time on his three wheeled ATV and going to civil war reenactments with Sharon. He volunteered at the Midland Cemetery in Steelton, where he mowed the lawn, maintained equipment and fixed anything that needed a repair. Most of all, Dave will be remembered as a loving husband and an attentive son. His family and friends will miss him greatly.
All are welcome to join Dave’s family at his in-person gathering of family and friends on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; and his virtual gathering of family and friends and service via video chat or telephone beginning at 11:30 a.m; with Pastor Joseph Engle officiating. Dave’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service. Interment in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will at the convenience of the family. Cremation was private.
