Dean “Dino” Benjamin Peck
Loving Husband, Father, & Grandfather -
Dean “Dino” Benjamin Peck, age 88, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2016. Dean was born on Tuesday, December 20, 1927 in Tuscola, IL to the late Ben R. Peck and Hollis Irene (Reily) Peck.
Dean’s survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Gladys (Hoy) Peck; his three sons: Dennis Peck and his wife, Marge, of Fenton, MO, William “Bill” Peck and his wife, Susan, of West Chester, OH, Donald “Don” Peck and his wife, Gail, of Dover, PA; and his three grandchildren: Benjamin Peck of Pittsburgh, PA, Brian and Amanda Peck of West Chester, OH.
Dean graduated from Lewisburg Area High School as part of the class of 1945. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Dean retired from Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg in 1983, after many years of service working as an equipment specialist. He was a member of the VFW Memorial Post 6704, American Legion Post #109, Enola Post #751, the Mechanicsburg Club, the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, and he was a 32 nd Degree Mason. Dean was a big sports fan and enjoyed watching televised games or the local high school sports. Some of his favorite teams were the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Chicago Cubs. Dean was also a baseball coach for the American Legion’s team in East Pennsboro for many years. He and his wife were PSU football season ticketholders for a couple years and he went to as many games as he could. Dean liked to travel, collect coins, and run, which he did until he couldn’t anymore. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; he will be missed dearly by all of his family.
All are welcome to join Dean’s family at his viewing on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:45 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Dr. Dennis Keller officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle. Honored to be pallbearers are Dennis Peck, Donald Peck, William Peck, Brian Peck, Benjamin Peck, and Darryl Gochenauer. Dean’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Stage & Studio Café (next to Myers-Buhrig) immediately following the burial.
