Delbert “Gene” Pratt, 82, of Shermans Dale and formerly of Mechanicsburg died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at home and surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on Monday, January 7, 1929 in Port Henry, NY the son of the late Delbert Pratt and Gertrude Louise (Winters) Keyworth.  Gene was the widower of Marilyn Janet Pratt to who he married on August 27, 1950.

Gene retired on August 23, 1980 from the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller.  He was a proud Air Force Veteran.  Gene loved hunting, fishing, camping and reading.  He was a competitive Trapshooter.

Gene’s survivors include his loving children: Kevin Pratt and fiancé Samantha Brown of Mechanicsburg, Brenda Verna and husband Ernie of Dillsburg; six grandchildren: Andrea Verna, Kyle Pratt, Kayla Pratt, Katherine Verna, Wislene Verna, Pascal Verna; a great grandson: Corbin Pratt; a sister: Sharon Sikes of Shermans Dale; and several nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to join Gene’s family at his Gathering of Family and Friends on Wednesday, October 26 2011, from 12:30 until time of service at 1:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17055, (717) 766-3421, www.Myers-Buhrig.com with Pastor Alan R. Echard officiating.

Interment will immediately follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville where full military honors will be presented.  Honored to be the urn-bearer is: Sergeant Kyle Pratt.  Gene’s family invites everyone to join them for a Time of Food and Fellowship at Kevin’s home on Wednesday following the interment.
