Dennis “Denny” Marlin Paul
All for God & Family –
Dennis “Denny” Marlin Paul, age 64, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Shiremanstown, went home peacefully while surrounded by his loving family at Hershey Medical Center on Friday, January 13, 2017. Denny was born on Tuesday, November 4, 1952 in Mechanicsburg to the late Marlin Lee Paul and Olive Mae (Swank) Paul. In addition to his parents, Denny is preceded in death by his beloved K9 companion of over 14 years, Mandy.
Denny’s survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Diane Elizabeth (Fisher) Paul; and his two sons: Chad Paul and his wife, Kelli, and their daughter, Eleanor, all of East Norriton, and Christopher Paul and his wife, Rachel, of Carlisle.
Denny graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1970 and from Harrisburg Area Community College. While in high school, he was a member of the rifle team and enjoyed instructing the team later in life. Denny retired in February of 2016 after rising to the rank of Vice-president/Director of Information Technology at Susquehanna Bank after starting as a programmer in banking. A long-time and faithful member of Redland Valley Brethren in Christ Church in York Haven; he was a Church Board Member, a former Treasurer for many years, and where he and his wife, Diane, were former deacons and greeters. Denny was a former volunteer fire fighter with Shiremanstown Fire Department where he spent many hours and developed some strong friendships. He enjoyed playing on his bowling leagues at Trindle Bowl and Red Crown Bowling Center.
Both Denny and Diane began camping as young children with their families and continued this tradition with their own sons. They loved camping and he and his wife enjoyed traveling, with special memories made on their cruises. Chad remembers sharing a love of technology with his father and he followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a Director of Information Technology. Chris cherishes his memories of his father coaching his baseball teams and of their annual trip to the Phillies opening day games. Denny could be a spirited and vocal fan especially where the Phillies and Eagles were concerned. Genealogy became an interest for Denny as he neared retirement and he and Diane had plans to travel and explore their ancestry. Family was so important to Denny and his pride grew exponentially when his first grandchild, Eleanor, was born. So many dreams, so many memories, he will be deeply missed and forever loved.
All are welcome to join Denny’s family at his viewing on Friday, January 20, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Redland Valley Brethren in Christ Church, 3555 Lewisberry Road, York Haven, PA 17370; with Pastor Brian Willison officiating.
