   Loved Her Family  -  

  Devonia “Pony” Alice (Divens) McKinney, age 78, of Mechanicsburg, went home peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, September 27, 2016.  Devonia was born on Tuesday, February 1, 1938 in Dublin Township, PA to the late Carl J. Divens and Mazie V. (Ritchey) Divens.  Devonia was the widow of Marlin “Red” Lee McKinney, whom she married on September 4, 1954, and who died on December 25, 2003.  In addition to her parents and husband, Devonia is preceded in death by her daughter, Danelle D. McKinney-Villaronga; her two sisters: Betty Smith, Maudleen Miller Johnson; and her two brothers: Berlyn Divens, Raymond Divens.  

  Devonia’s survivors include her three daughters: Dixie McKinney and her companion, Christopher Zeiderelli, of Mechanicsburg, Cynthia “Cindy” L. McKinney of Mechanicsburg, Lisa M. McKinney of Fairfield, PA; her five grandchildren: Shane McKinney, Janelle Miller, Jennifer Alleman, Rafael Villaronga, Curtis McKinney; her six great-grandchildren: Amber McKinney, Kyle Lee Wilson-McKinney, Ashley Miller, Sean Miller, Kendra Alleman, Haylee Alleman; her three great-great-grandchildren: Jayden Philbert, Kamden Wilson, Kylee Wilson; her companion, Jack Alexander of Mechanicsburg; and her two siblings: Dwayne Divens of North Carolina, Etta Mae Divens-Killinger of Carlisle.  

  Devonia graduated from Empire Beauty School in Carlisle in 1957.  She was the owner and operator of her own salon, Devonia McKinney’s Beauty Salon, in Mechanicsburg.  Devonia loved being a hairdresser and did so for almost 60 years.  She was also the hairdresser for Myers-Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory for many years.  When she wasn’t doing hair, Devonia loved traveling especially to the beach with her friends, which she started doing at a young age.  She enjoyed traveling to New York to see plays and attend hair shows, which she loved.  Devonia also visited Disney World in Florida and traveled abroad to Germany, Italy, and Holland.  She was very outgoing, which showed in her trips to the casino and the dance classes she took in Harrisburg.  Devonia attended the Church of Brethren in Carlisle. She was a strong woman who was very giving and cared a lot about people.  Devonia touched many lives (and heads of hair), she will be deeply missed.  

  All are welcome to join Devonia’s family at her viewing on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Bob Malick officiating.  Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Shane McKinney, Rafael Villaronga, Curtis McKinney, Tom Alleman, Michael Miller, Kyle Wilson-McKinney, Dwayne Divens, Chris Zeiderelli, and Michael Murtha.  

  Devonia’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at First Church of God in Mechanicsburg, right across the street from the funeral home, following the burial.
