A Kind, Generous, and Giving Person -

Diana “Diane” Marie (Torbica) Jarzynka, age 90, of Carlisle, and formerly of Freedom and Baden, peacefully left her earthly family to join her Father in Heaven on Monday, December 16, 2019.  Diane was born on Tuesday, April 9, 1929 in Freedom to the late George Torbica and Helen (Perencevich) Torbica.  Diane was the widow of Anthony Michael Jarzynka, whom she married on September 30, 1950, and who died on January 17, 2014.  In addition to her parents and husband, Diane is preceded in death by her seven siblings: Joseph Torbica, Mark Torbic, Nick Torbica, Mildred Karamarkovich, Ann Torbica, Kathryn “Kay” Vuckovich, and Zora Bobich,.

Diane’s survivors include her two daughters: Darlene Rose Black and her husband, Farrell, of Mechanicsburg, Marlene Antoinette Sands and her husband, Ray, of Altamonte Springs, FL; her two grandchildren: Tess Allegra Hurley and her husband, Justin, of Colorado Springs, CO, Mason Bogdan Sands of Altamonte Springs, FL; her sister, Mary “Cookie” Loverich, of Beaver; her two sisters-in-law: Theresa Day of Ambridge Loretta Jarzynka of Freedom; and many nieces and nephews.

Diane graduated from Freedom High School.  She retired from Sisters of Saint Joseph of Baden after many years of working in the food service industry. In 1988 she was made an Associate member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden.  Before converting to the catholic faith, she was a member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church. Diane was a long-time member of St. Stanislaus Church in Ambridge and Good Samaritan Parish in Ambridge. She was a woman of strong faith and was proud of her Serbian heritage. Her family and many friends will remember her as always fashionable; quick with a smile; and as a kind and giving person, who accepted others without hesitation.

All are welcome to join Diane’s family at her open house gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. until a time of remembrance starting at 3:00 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory).  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots.

Friends and family are invited to join Diane’s family at her visitation on Friday, January 17, 2020, from 12:30 p.m. until time of Rosary at 1:00 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. at Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden, 1020 State Street, Baden, PA 15005. Diane’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Good Samaritan Parish, 725 Glenwood Ave, Ambridge, PA 15003, immediately following the Mass.  Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at the convenience of the family.  Cremation was private.
