Dilys Irene (Fegan) Eberly

Dilys Irene (Fegan) Eberly, age 83, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Palmyra, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 2, 2018. Dilys was born on Monday, December 31, 1934 in Estevan which is in Saskatchewan, Canada to the late Robert Buch Fegan and Florence Mary (Mathison) Fegan. Dilys was the widow of Richard “Dick” Joseph Eberly, whom she married on November 4, 1978, and who died on May 14, 2012 and David “Dave” Delano Wagner, whom she married on June 11, 1956, and who died on September 13, 1974. In addition to her parents and two husbands, Dilys is preceded in death by her son, David Wagner, II, who died on December 24, 2013; her three brothers: Arthur Fegan, Frederick William “Bill” Fegan, and Frank Fegan; and her three sisters: Eileen Longenecker, Nancy Brown, and Freda Zimmerman.
Dilys’ survivors include her four sons: Stephen Eberly and his wife, Margaret, of Carrollton, TX, Gordon Eberly of Enola, PA, Douglas Wagner and his fiancé, Kathy, of Carlisle, PA, Daniel Wagner, Sr. of New Cumberland; her five grandchildren: David Wagner, Jacob Wagner, Sarah Stevens, Stephen Eberly, and Daniel Wagner, Jr.; her six great grandchildren; her sister, Joan Weaver of Palmyra, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
Dilys worked in many offices over the years and retired from Besco in Lemoyne. She was a member of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg since 1978 where she enjoyed singing with the choir for years. Dilys was a strong-willed and outspoken woman who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed cross country skiing, snowmobiling and going to the mountains as well as playing dominos and card, especially hand and foot. These were weekly traditions with her lady friends from the church and the neighborhood. Dilys loved quilting and will be remembered for all of the fantastic pieces that she made over the years.
All are welcome to join Dilys’ family at her gathering of family and friends on Friday, June 8, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Trindle Spring Lutheran Church, 14 State Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; with Pastor Aaron M. Erdley officiating. Burial will follow in Trindle Spring Cemetery in Mechanicsburg. Honored to be pallbearers are her four sons: Stephen, Gordon, Douglas, and Daniel. Dilys’ family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church immediately following the burial.
