Dixie LuAnn McKinney, age 67, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023. Dixie was born on Thursday, September 22, 1955, in Carlisle to the late Marlin Lee McKinney and Devonia Alice (Divens) McKinney. In addition to her parents, Dixie is preceded in death by her sister, Danelle D. McKinney-Villaronga.
Dixie’s survivors include her companion of 26 years, Christopher Zegarelli; her three children: Shane McKinney of Mechanicsburg; Janelle Miller and husband, Michael, of New Cumberland; Jennifer “Jen” Alleman of Dillsburg; her six grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; her two siblings: Cynthia “Cindy” L. McKinney of Mechanicsburg, Lisa M. McKinney of Fairfield, and several nieces and nephews.
Dixie attended Mechanicsburg High School. She loved to be around other people, and enjoyed attending community fairs and carnivals. Dixie also enjoyed country music, especially local bands. She loved to go to Hollywood Casino to gamble and Penn National Raceway to watch the horse races. Dixie’s family will remember her as a simple person, who was content with her life. She will be greatly missed by all that loved her.
All are welcome to join Dixie’s family at gathering of family and friends on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Cremation was private.
