Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather -
Donald “Don” Edgar Ruppert, age 79, of Mechanicsburg , and formerly of Palmyra, died at home on Saturday, March 28, 2015. Don was born on Tuesday, November 26, 1935 in Paradise Township to the late Lester Eugene Ruppert and Velma (Myers) Ruppert. In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his two brothers: Ray Ruppert and Robert Ruppert.
Don’s survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gloria Ann (Hoffman) Ruppert; his children: MaryJo Chamberlin and her husband, Eddie, of Mechanicsburg, Robert Ruppert and his wife, Theresa, of Dauphin; his three grandchildren: Denelle Chamberlin-Smith and her husband, Doug, Kelli Bender and her husband, Brandon, of Dillsburg, Eric Ruppert of Dauphin; his three great-grandchildren: Destin, Adriana, Jillian; and his sister: Kathy Myers.
Don retired from Hershey Foods with over 20 years of service. Following retirement, he spent some time as a crossing guard for the Borough of Palmyra . Don was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg. He enjoyed traveling, but was particularly happy working outside in the yard and tending his beautiful roses. Don will always be remembered as a very kind and generous man.
All are welcome to join Don’s family at his visitation and gathering of family and friends on Thursday, April 2, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Kevin E. Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill. Honored to be pallbearers are: Brandon Bender, Doug Smith, Eric Ruppert, Gary Hale, Destin Chamberlin. Following the burial, Don’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Theo’s Bar & Grille, 3315 Hartzdale Drive, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
