Donald “Don” Bertram Walker, age 74, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, September 9, 2016, the day he and his wife celebrated 55 years of marriage. Don was born on Sunday, December 14, 1941, in Lansdale, PA, to the late Bertram M. Walker and H. Kathryn (Ruth) Walker.
Don’s survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Joyce Hope (Soltys) Walker; his three daughters: Barbara Foltz and her husband, Dennis, of Enola, Donna Roth and her husband, Bill, of Mechanicsburg, Kathryn Newton and her husband, Glenn, of Mechanicsburg; and his five grandchildren: Jake Roth, Sarah Foltz, Will Roth, Natalie Newton, and Norah Newton.
Don graduated from North Penn High School as part of the class of 1960 and he attended Temple University. He was a former member of Christian Life Assembly Church in Camp Hill where he worked in Kidz Town. Don was a current member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, where he served as the web master. He was an active volunteer at Bethesda Mission and with the Gideons International for many years. Don enjoyed traveling the world with his beloved wife, Joyce, in their retirement. Faith and family were of utmost importance to Don. He found tremendous joy in attending his grandchildren’s many activities. Don had a life-long love of electronics and computers; basically anything with a cord. Over the years he always kept up with the latest technology, even in his later life. He was deeply loved and will be missed.
All are welcome to join Don’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Thursday, September 15, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, September 16, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1480 Jerusalem Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; with Pastor Troy Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill. Honored to be pallbearers are: Dennis Foltz, Bill Roth, Glenn Newton, Jake Roth, Will Roth, Sarah Foltz, Natalie Newton, and Norah Newton. Don’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the burial.
