Donna Lorraine (James) Zembower
Devoted Mother and Grandmother -
Donna Lorraine (James) Zembower, age 77, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital on Sunday, December 20, 2020. Donna was born on Tuesday, October 26, 1943, in Windber, PA to the late William James and Katherine Maxine (Laufer) James. She was the widow of L. Carl Zembower, whom she married on August 18, 1962, and who died on April 9, 2005.
Donna’s survivors include her two sons: Gregory “Greg” A. Zembower and wife Lynn of Mechanicsburg, Michael “Mike” K. Zembower and significant other Kelly Flowers of New Cumberland; her granddaughter, Paige L. Zembower and significant other Matt Steighner of Enola; her three siblings: William “Bill” James and wife Anna of Selinsgrove, Diane Whetstone of Mechanicsburg, Elizabeth “Liz” Wilson of North Fort Myers, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Donna graduated from Bedford High School as part of the class of 1961. She retired from Sanford & Roumm Rheumatology in Camp Hill in 2001. Donna was a member of St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill. As an avid golfer, Donna was a two-year, ladies club champion at Armitage Golf Club in Mechanicsburg, and she once sunk a hole-in-one. She was a fan of Elvis and Hallmark movies. Donna always stayed active. She enjoyed card games with neighborhood friends, as well as playing Bingo, slots, and pool. Traveling with Carl in their RV to NASCAR races and elsewhere, motor boating on Lake Raystown and Chesapeake Bay, spending winters in Florida, socializing at the Mechanicsburg VFW with Carl, and listening to him play the guitar were some of Donna’s favorite times. Donna’s family will dearly miss their devoted mother and grandmother.
All are welcome to join Donna’s family for her virtual gathering of family and friends and service via video chat or telephone on Monday, January 4, 2021, from 10:30 a.m. until time of virtual service at 11:00 a.m.; with Pastor W. Stevens Shipman officiating. Private burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill.
