Doris Gertrude (Clawson) Barron

Doris Gertrude (Clawson) Barron, age 90, of Mechanicsburg passed away peacefully at Messiah Lifeways at Messiah Village on Thursday, November 21, 2019.  Doris was born on Thursday, May 9, 1929 in Bolivar to the late Alfred Bruce Clawson and Florence Hannah (Miller) Clawson.  Doris was the widow of Franklin “Frank” James Barron, Jr., whom she married on January 22, 1949, and who died on January 23, 2012.  In addition to her parents and husband, Doris is preceded in death by her sister, Grace Showman; and her three brothers, Raymond Clawson, Robert Clawson and Bruce Clawson.

Doris’s survivors include her three children: Gary James Barron, Sr., and his wife Swe, of Monterey, CA, Cynthia L. Baum, and her husband Timothy, of Mechanicsburg, Dr. Bruce A. Barron, of Leroy, NY; her seven grandchildren: Kimberly Morgan, Karen Gagne, Scott Baum, Allyce Barron, Gregory Barron, Jennifer Davis, and Gary Barron, Jr.; her seven great-grandchildren: Dylan Baum, Camden Baum, Colin Baum, Oliva Morgan, Ava Gagne, James Barron and Genevieve Barron; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris graduated from Bolivar High School as part of the class of 1947.  She retired from Bon Ton Stores, Inc. in Camp Hill, after many years of service working as a sales associate.  She had also worked for E. J. Korvettes and for Pomeroy’s. Doris had many talents, she loved to knit, make delicious baked goods, and could crochet extraordinary doilies without a pattern. Doris dearly cherished the holidays and would decorate her home for each holiday.  She especially loved Christmas and decorating her tree and home in yuletide decorations.  Her family was very important to her. She loved her grandchildren and the many Sunday dinners, birthday parties and holiday gatherings spent with them.  Her family and friends will remember that she laughed often, and will miss her infectious laugh.

All are welcome to join Doris’s family at her viewing on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. with her service beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel at Messiah Lifeways at Messiah Village, 100 Mount Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend George A.
