Doris Ingeborg (Stettenheim) Blouin
Doris Ingeborg (Stettenheim) Blouin, age 80, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Germany, joined her husband in Heaven with her daughter and granddaughter by her side after succumbing to a surprise bout of cancer on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Doris was born on March 16, 1936 in Stuttgart, Germany to the late Anna (Stettenheim) Schmissrauter. Doris was the widow of Leslie “Les” Blouin, whom she married on December 11, 1959, and who died on November 19, 2014. Doris and Les were life-long dance partners and are surely dancing together in heaven now. She will be deeply missed by all friends and family left behind.
Doris’s survivors include her daughter, Corinne (Rebinski) Sheridan and husband, John, and their children Michael, Matthew, Shannon and Gabe; her step-son, Leslie “Pete” Blouin and his wife, Ginny, and their children Harmony Annibali and her husband, Nate, Pierre Blouin and his partner, Andrea Woodahl, and Evita Nagle and her husband, Nick; along with six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson. Doris also leaves behind three step-siblings, Alvin Schmissrauter and his wife, Raisa, Renate Holl, and Brigitte Blank and her husband, Peter; nieces, nephews, cousins, and her foster family, the Schwaemmle family, including her foster sister, Ruth Haug, and her husband, Richard, and their children and grandchildren, all in Germany - where she was born and lived for 40 years before she moved to the United States with her husband, Les, and their children.
Doris was proud of her German heritage and a long-time devoted and active member of the Lancaster Liederkranz where she was one of the founders of the Alleweil Jung German Folk Dance Group. She was also an active member of the Penn Cumberland Garden Club, the Susquehanna Sewing Guild, Capital City Polka Dancers Association, and several groups of German friends.
