Doris Louise (Seese) Hobba
A Woman of Faith -
Doris Louise (Seese) Hobba age 88, of Carlisle, and formerly of Montoursville, PA and Mechanicsburg, PA, was reunited with her loving husband in Heaven on Saturday, January 8, 2022. Doris was born on Tuesday, January 24, 1933, in Windber, PA to the late Morris Seese and Margaret R. (Fyock) Seese. Doris was the widow of Gerald “Jerry” Wade Hobba, whom she married on March 1, 1952, and who died on March 2, 2008. In addition to her parents and husband, Doris is preceded in death by three of her siblings: Robert Caldwell, Charlotte Lohr and Phyllis Knavel.
Doris’s survivors include her two children: Mark Hobba and wife, Diane, of Hampton, VA, Valerie L. Greene and husband, James, of Mechanicsburg, PA; her three grandchildren: Erin Heiner and husband, Jeremy, Jessica Hobba, Wade Greene and wife, Katie; her four great-grandchildren: Ashlee Heiner, Seth Heiner, Jakob Heiter and Paul Lauermann; and her brother, Roy Seese and wife, Marlene.
Doris graduated from Windber High School and married her husband, Jerry, not long after. A woman of faith, Doris sang in the choir at Memorial Baptist Church in Williamsport until relocating to the Mechanicsburg area and attending Good News Baptist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed helping with meals and playing cards at the Mechanicsburg Senior Center. Doris was also known to be an avid reader and liked to travel. She loved dogs and owned many as pets throughout the years. Doris had a special zest for life and enjoyed dancing at her family reunions. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and friends.
All are welcome to join Doris’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Sunday, April 24, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 1:45 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Lori Riggs officiating. Doris’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service. A together again and together forever committal service and interment for Doris and Jerry will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2022 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, where Jerry’s service will be recognized with military honors. Cremation was private.
