Doris Zimmerman

Doris Lucille (White) Zimmerman, age 93, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 11, 2019 while surrounded by her loving family.  Doris was born on Saturday, November 7, 1925 in Mechanicsburg to the late George Bryan White and Carrie Eleanor (Shank) White Rife.  Doris was the widow of Harold Eugene Zimmerman, whom she married on April 21, 1946, and who died on January 31, 2006.

Doris’s survivors include her two sons: Steven B. Zimmerman of Mechanicsburg, Carl Zimmerman and his wife, Victoria, of Mechanicsburg; her three grandchildren, Christopher Zimmerman, Jacob Zimmerman, Marisa Zimmerman; her three step-grandchildren, Ira Henry, Lola Henry and John Henry; eight great grandchildren; and a caregiver and friend, Brenda Lucero.

She attended Mechanicsburg schools and graduated in the class of 1943.  Immediately following graduation, she began work at the newly built Naval Supply Depot.  She later worked for the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce, The Evening Sentinel and the former First Bank and Trust Company in Mechanicsburg.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 70 years and a volunteer at the Mechanicsburg Museum Association for many years.

All are welcome to join Doris’s family at her graveside service on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Mechanicsburg Cemetery, 137 West Marble Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor John Shellenberger, Jr. officiating.
