Dorothy “Dottie” Westbrook (Longueil) Stepp, age 93, of Mechanicsburg, died on Sunday, March 24, 2024. Dottie was born on Saturday, September 13, 1930, in New York, NY to the late Chase Martin Longueil and Mary Estelle (Smith) Longueil. In addition to her parents, Dottie is preceded in death by her son, William Joseph Barnett; her grandson, Jimmy Gerhardt; her sister, Joy Minette (Longueil) Hutter; her daughter in law, Christine (Noll) Barnett; and her son-in-law, Brad Heckelman.
Dottie’s survivors include her husband of 37 years, Roger Carlyle Stepp; her six children: Arthur William Barnett and his partner, Joy, of Shippensburg, PA, Diane Dorothy (Barnett) Crawford and her husband, Phillip, of Rock Hill, SC, Barbara Ann (Barnett) Gerhardt of Rhododendron, OR, Robert Guy Barnett and his wife, Pam, of Chambersburg, PA, Linda Mary (Barnett) Heckelman of Mechanicsburg, PA, Susan Joy (Barnett) Baker and her husband, Lewis, of Camp Hill, PA; her 19 grandchildren: Matt Barnett, Jeremy Barnett (Abby), Ariana Golumbeck, Tommy Crawford (Haley), Chase Crawford (Olivia), Barbara (Gerhardt) Basham (Aaron), David Gerhardt, Laura Gerhardt, Laura (Barnett) Zahos (Josh), Lizz (Barnett) Ulrich (Tim), Ryan Kelly (Jill), Evan Kelly, Kyle Heckelman (Jenn), Justin Heckelman (Luzie), Rodd Heckelman (Marianne), Amber Heckelman (Shoraun), Tylor McElhenie (Anna), Seth Baker, and Zoe Baker (Joe) ; her 22 great-grandchildren: Savanna, Kyle, Violet, Noah, Caleb, Isaiah, Madie, Aura, Ashley, Johnny, Landes, Madison, Eva, Hannah, Elijah, Jazmin, Noah, Nina, Maya, Joey, Mila, and Liliana; and her two nephews: Jeff Hutter (Michelle) and Scott Hutter (Amele).
Dottie was a bright light to all and so enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends with laughter and conversation. Her fun-loving attitude and love of the Lord was an inspiration. Whatever came her way, Dottie's spirit shone through in her beautiful smile. She will be forever missed and forever in our hearts.
All are welcome to join Dottie’s family at her Celebration of Life gathering of family and friends on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral & Cremation); with Pastor Jen Williams officiating. Dottie’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place immediately following the service. Cremation was private.
