Dorothea “Dorothy” Mae (Worrall) Strouse

Dorothea “Dorothy” Mae (Worrall) Strouse, age 100, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Norristown, died peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2017. Dorothy was born on Monday, March 27, 1916 in Norristown to the late William Lester Worrall, Jr. and Emily Elizabeth (Saxon) Worrall. Dorothy was the widow of Herman F. Strouse, whom she married on December 21, 1935, and who died on August 4, 2000. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy is preceded in death by three grandchildren; her five brothers; and her one sister.
Dorothy’s survivors include her two children: Elizabeth Curll and her husband, Robert, of Mechanicsburg, PA; Franklin Strouse and his wife, Susan, of Lehighton, PA; her four grandchildren: Susan Land of North Pole, AK, Barbara Weaver and her husband, Shannon, of Mechanicsburg, PA, Owen Strouse and his wife, Cheryl, of Mooresville, NC, Judith Kristen Strouse of Pittsburgh, PA; her six great-grandchildren; her nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy loved to sew, crochet, needlepoint, and knit. She enjoyed traveling with her husband everywhere. Family was the most important thing to Dorothy and she loved spending time with all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens in King of Prussia. Honored to be pallbearers are Susan Land, Barbara Weaver, Owen Strouse, Kristen Strouse, Jessica Sisolak, Amanda Brudowsky, Christine Weaver, and Grady Weaver.
Contributions in celebration of Dorothy’s life can be made to any charity or organization of the donor’s choosing.
