Loved Her Border Terriers -

Dorothy Caroline Waggoner, age 84, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Camp Hill, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 2, 2017.  Dorothy was born on Wednesday, October 26, 1932 in Mechanicsburg to the late George Albert Waggoner and Esther Sophia (Hosler) Waggoner.  In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her sister, Ethel M. Loscher; and her dear friend and companion, Janet Garrett.

Dorothy’s survivors include her loving nephews: Michael “Mike” Loscher and his wife, Melissa, of Carlisle, Gary Loscher and his wife, Cheryl, of Kenosha, WI; her five great nieces and nephews; and a very close circle of friends.

Dorothy graduated as valedictorian from Mechanicsburg High School as a part of the class of 1950.  She retired from Verizon, formerly Bell Telephone Company of Harrisburg, in 1986, after 36 years of service working as a manager.  Dorothy was a lifelong member of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsburg and she served as treasurer of the Sunday school for many years at the Hogestown Chapel of the Silver Spring Presbyterian Church.  She was a member of the Dauphin Dog Training Club, the Border Terrier Club of America, a life member of the Pioneers of America, and a founding member of the Obedience Training Club of Harrisburg.  Dorothy loved dogs and she had a special place in her heart for the therapy dogs that she began training in 1976.  Her favorite breed was the Border Terrier, because of their affectionate, happy, and plucky personality.  Dorothy also enjoyed showing her terriers, which won many ribbons at various shows.  Her last terrier was Emma, who became a very close and personal friend to her that held a high level of importance in her life.

All are welcome to join Dorothy’s family at her viewing on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, 444 Silver Spring Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; with Chaplain Keith Searfoss and Reverend Karin C.
