Douglas "Doug" Keith Steuart

Douglas “Doug” Keith Steuart, age 80, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Corry, died at home on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.  Doug was born on Monday, April 12, 1943, in Danville, IL to the late James Atlee Steuart and Lepha Ione (Davis) Steuart.  In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by his son: Alan C. Steuart; and his three brothers: Sydney Steuart, Gregory Steuart, and Russell Steuart.

Doug’s survivors include his wife of 55 years, Harriet (Hotchkiss) Steuart; his two children: Andrew D. Steuart and wife, Janet, of Beaverdam, VA; Amy J. Armstrong and husband, Kevin, of Lemoyne; his seven grandchildren; his five great grandchildren; and his beloved animal companions: Otis the dog and Roxie the cat.

Doug grew up in Spring Creek, graduated from Corry Area High School as part of the class of 1960, and graduated from Mercyhurst College with a Bachelor’s Degree.  He retired from Urban Engineering Inc in 2009 after years of service working as a construction project manager.  Doug was a member of the Corry Country Club, Corry YMCA, and the Kiwanis Club.  Doug was an avid golfer, who had played golf for nearly 60 years. He loved watching Penn State Football.  Doug also loved to read.  He enjoyed reading books from many genres and topics: from Homer’s Odyssey and other classics; to science fiction, mysteries and many other genres.  He excelled at sports.  Doug was a member of the Corry Area High School football team, basketball team, and track and field team.  Doug held the school record in the discus for many years.   

Doug’s family will be celebrating his life privately.  Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery in Corry will be at the family’s convenience.  Cremation was private.
