Douglas E. Fox

Douglas E. Fox, age 65, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 21, 2023.  Doug was born on Wednesday, April 16, 1958, in New Castle to the late Paul Fox and Ruth Maxine (VanBuren) Fox.  In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by his baby grandson, Hudson Deibert and his brother, Stephen Fox.

Doug’s survivors include his wife of 33 years, Valeria “Jo” (McElvaine) Fox; his daughter, Sarah J. Deibert and her husband, Matthew, of Enola; his granddaughter, MaKayla Jo; his two brothers: Gary Fox and his wife, Sandy; David Fox and his wife, Jill; several nieces and a nephew.

Doug graduated from Reynolds High School in Greenville as part of the class of 1976 and from Pennsylvania State University in 1980.  He retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg, after 15 years of service working with Comptroller.  Doug was an avid fan of Penn State sports, mainly football, and rooted for the Pittsburgh Steelers.  When he wasn’t watching sports, Doug could be found watching Fox News or listening to music by the Eagles.  He loved traveling, most especially to his condo in Naples, FL, and enjoyed warm weather, the beach, kayaking the Mangroves and watching the dolphins and manatees.  More than anything, Doug loved his family and relished attending his daughter’s sports and events while she was growing up.  He will be deeply missed.

Doug’s family will be remembering his life privately.  Burial in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be at the family’s convenience.
