Dustin Lee Shannon, age 32, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Perry County, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.  He was born on Tuesday, July 5, 1988, in Carlisle to Gary Shannon and Julie (Morton) Shannon.  Dustin is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Nancy Shannon; his maternal grandfather, Donald Morton; and his best friend, Cassandra Connolly.

Dustin’s survivors include his parents, Gary and Julie Shannon of Mechanicsburg; his four siblings: Dylan Shannon and wife, Leigh, of Mechanicsburg, Megan Wiles and husband, Tyler, of Mechanicsburg, Malia Shannon of Mechanicsburg, Malani Shannon of Mechanicsburg, Donald Moyer, Jr. and spouse, Ryan, of South Carolina, Heather Jones and husband, Matt, of Shermans Dale; his paternal grandfather, John Shannon, Sr. of Enhaut; his maternal grandmother, Jo Naccarato and husband, Robert, of Mechanicsburg; his five uncles: John Shannon, Jr. and wife, Tory, of Shermans Dale, Dan Shannon and wife, Anna, of Duncannon, Mark Shannon and wife, Twanette, of Lewisberry, Dan Morton, Sr. and wife, Shelley, of Mechanicsburg, Jeff Morton and wife, Barb, of North East, MD; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved feline companion, Franky.

Dustin graduated from Susquenita High School as part of the class of 2006.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors and could be found fishing, hiking, camping, or just taking a drive.  Dustin loved being around his friends; he was always joking around and making them laugh.  Not only was he funny and humorous, Dustin was a very happy and sweet soul.  If someone needed support, he was there; he would take the shirt off of his back to help.

All are welcome to join Dustin’s family at memorial open house on Saturday, May 29, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until a celebration time of remembrance at 11:30 a.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory); with Celebrant Patti Vogl officiating.  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots.  The family requests that everyone dresses casually and comfortably.  Cremation was private.
