Earl Richard Bollinger, age 77, of Mechanicsburg , died peacefully at Hershey Medical Center with his wife and son by his side on Saturday, April 19, 2014. He was born in Grantham, PA, on Friday, October 16, 1936, son of the late Ralph Bollinger and Jenny (Harlan) Bollinger. Earl was the husband of Phyllis Louise (Snavely) Bollinger whom he married on April 3, 1971.
Earl’s survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Phyllis Louise (Snavely) Bollinger; his son, Michael Sechrist and his wife Susan of Coopersburg, PA; his granddaughter, Rachel Sechrist of Allentown, PA; his two sisters, Arlene Emmert of Florida, and Mildred Beausay of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Earl in death are his brother, Lloyd Bollinger; and his two sisters, Anna Neibert and Evelyn Shedlosky.
Earl graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1955. He retired as a sales representative from Henderson Tire Company after 10 years of service and then worked part-time for an additional three years. Before that he spent 20 years at Gold Seal as a sales representative and then a district manager. Earl joined Camp Hill Presbyterian Church in 1972 where he served as an elder, a Christian in Service (CIS) Advisor, and an usher for 30 years. Fishing at anytime and anywhere was one of Earl’s pleasures but his joy was spending time with his granddaughter, Rachel.
All are welcome to join Earl’s family at his memorial service on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Camp Hill Presbyterian Church , 101 North 23rd Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011; with Reverend Dr. David A. Roquemore and Reverend Robin Reilly officiating. Cremation was private. Earl’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the memorial service.
The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
