Earl Glen Leib

Earl Glen Leib, age 71, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023.  Earl was born on Friday, October 5, 1951, in Mechanicsburg to the late Blaine Edward Leib and Doris Jean (McNaughton) Leib.  In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his brother, Dwight Leib.

Earl’s survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betty Ann (Valentine) Leib; his 2 daughters: Erica Ann Garber and her husband, Mike, of Elizabethtown; Heather Alane Leib of Mechanicsburg; his 3 grandchildren: Faith Garber, Garrett Garber, Coy Gates; his 5 siblings: John Leib of Carlisle; Emily Shute of North Port, Florida; Blaine Lee Leib of Mechanicsburg; Nancy Faircloth of Dillsburg, and Harold Leib of Carlisle.

Earl graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 1969. After high school, he worked for George Lebo (farmer) and Shovers Farm Equipment. In 1978, Earl went to work for Lobar, Inc., where he was employed for 40 years as a laborer and shop manager.

Earl grew up on a farm in Mechanicsburg and continued to farm it after his parents passed until its sale in 2021. In addition to farming, he enjoyed dirt track racing of supersportman cars with his two brothers, especially at Silver Spring Speedway. Earl was a great mechanic, resource to the local farming community and Civil War buff. Thanks, Dad, for the personal day-by-day tours of the Battle of Gettysburg! He always had a good sense of direction. He never got us lost on our road trips to Lancaster County (no maps or GPS needed!). Earl enjoyed NASCAR, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and building Legos with his grandkids.
