Edward Milton Hall

August 14, 1928 — March 7, 2016

Edward M. Hall

Devoted Husband and Kind, Hard-Working Family Man -

Edward M. Hall, age 87, of Mechanicsburg passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 7, 2016.  Edward was born on Tuesday, August 14, 1928, in Hickory Township, PA to the late William Hall and Mary (Stewart) Hall.  In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his two brothers, William and Ronald Hall.

Edward is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy Hall of Mechanicsburg; his two daughters: Sharon Hall of Portland, OR and Nancy Hall of Enola, PA; his one son, Gary Hall and his wife, Chris, of Yakima, WA; his six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Edward was a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg.  He belonged to the Middletown American Legion Post 594 and the Middletown Area Historical Society of Dauphin County; and he formerly belonged to the Middletown Elks Lodge #1074. Edward retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1970 after serving 24 years, and then worked at the Navy Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg for 19 years until his second retirement.  The oldest of three sons who lost their father at a young age, Edward worked very hard from age six to help support his family.  He never complained about working; and he developed a strong sense of responsibility, trust-worthiness, and dependability all his life.  Being a history buff and lifelong learner; in addition to his formal education, Edward was an avid reader of non-fiction books, especially about history and golf.  He enjoyed the outdoors; whether it was taking nature walks or gardening with his daughter, Nancy.  By far, Edward’s favorite pastime was golf.  He loved to play, watch it, or read about anything golf-related.  Edward and Dorothy enjoyed traveling and took many vacations and cruises; Edward’s favorite places being anywhere he could golf.  His family remembers Edward’s sense of humor and the fascinating stories he would weave; and they will miss his kindness, how he glowed with pride in his grandchildren, and his complete devotion to his wife.

All are welcome to join Edward’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Friday, March 11, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 5000 Simpson Ferry Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Kevin E. Hughes officiating.  Edward’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the service.  Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, where full military honors will be presented.
