E. June (Conrad) Hess, age 88, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at VibraLife in Mechanicsburg on Saturday, October 21, 2017. June was born on Monday, July 8, 1929 in Carroll Township to the late Paul William Conrad, Sr. and Olive Louise (Messimer) Conrad. June was the widow of David James Hess, whom she married on February 15, 1958, and who died on January 8, 1998. In addition to her parents and husband, June is preceded in death by her brother, Paul William Conrad, Jr.; and her two sisters, Jean Wolf, and Esther Titzel.
June’s survivors include her sister, Linda S. Hoerner of Mt. Holly Springs, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
June graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School as part of the class of 1948. She retired from Mellon National Bank, after 32 years of service working as a teller. June was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Enola, where she volunteered countless hours of her time and talent over the years. She was a member of the Senior Citizen Center in Enola for many years and took many trips with them. June had an infectious laugh that everyone around her loved to hear. She was quite the ice cream addict. During her hospital stays, June would often ask for ice cream on her breakfast tray and only those two words perked her up towards the end. She will be dearly missed for her giving spirit and delightful laughter.
All are welcome to join June’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Thursday, October 26, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6839 Wertzville Road, Enola, PA 17025; with Pastor Anne-Rose Reeves officiating. June’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church following the service.
