Elaine (Fehlinger) Konkle “Ritter”

First Lady of Mechanicsburg -

Elaine (Fehlinger) Konkle “Ritter”, 66, of Mechanicsburg , and formerly of Montoursville , died suddenly and unexpectedly at home with her husband by her side on Thursday, November 7, 2013.  She was born in Montoursville, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, April 2, 1947, daughter of Charles Fehlinger and the late Olga (Shypulski) Fehlinger.  Elaine was the wife of Mayor Jack Curtis Ritter whom she married on May 5, 2006.

Elaine’s survivors include her loving husband and companion for over 30 years, Jack Curtis Ritter; her two sons, John David "JD" Konkle, III, of Williamsport, Douglas Konkle of Colorado; her father, Charles Fehlinger of Montoursville; and her sister Linda Richards of Montoursville.  Preceding Elaine in death is her mother, Olga Fehlinger.

Elaine enjoyed being the First Lady of Mechanicsburg , a title that she wore with humility and grace.  She was a deeply private person who treated those around her with kindness and compassion.  One of Elaine’s joys was buying and selling antiques at the Antique Marketplace in Lemoyne.  Before that, she worked in advertising and sales at Traffax in New Cumberland, WHP 580 Radio in Harrisburg, and Cindy Rowe Auto Glass .  Her sudden departure from us is felt by many and Elaine will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her and none more than her loving husband, Jack.

All are welcome to join Jack in remembering Elaine at her Gathering of Family & Friends and Reception on Friday, November 15, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The Mechanicsburg Club’s Centurian Room , 333 Heinz Street, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania 17055.  Cremation was private and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pennsylvania, will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family encourages memorial contributions to the Joseph T. Simpson Public Library , 16 North Walnut Street, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania 17055, or the Wildcat Foundation , 500 South Broad Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, or the Mechanicsburg Museum Association , 2 West Strawberry Avenue, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania 17055.

Elaine’s family has entrusted her care to Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421.  Read Elaine’s full obituary and sign her official guest book at www.Myers-Buhrig.com .
