Elizabeth Marcia (Banks) Harding
A Loving and Compassionate Woman -
Elizabeth Marcia (Banks) Harding, age 96, of Enola, and formerly of Harrisburg, went home to her family and husband in Heaven while being comforted by her loving family on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. Elizabeth was born on Friday, January 28, 1921 in Harrisburg to the late William Banks and Sissiretta Turks. Elizabeth was the widow of Edgar Vivian Harding, whom she married on May 10, 1956, and who died in 1971.
Elizabeth’s survivors include her loving daughter, Melissia Miller and her husband, John, of Enola; her three grandchildren; her three great-grandchildren; and many more cousins and relatives.
Elizabeth graduated from William Penn High School as part of the class of 1939. She retired from Dauphin Manor in Harrisburg, after 15 years of service working as a dietician. Elizabeth was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Harrisburg. She was very devoted to her faith; Elizabeth enjoyed learning about the Catholic Church and reading the Bible. She also liked to cook, read, and watch television, especially if the National Geographic Channel or Cops was on. Elizabeth made sure to take care of herself by watching her health and monitoring her nutrition, just as she did at work. She loved dogs and held a special place in her heart, and on her lap, for her daughter’s dogs that she liked to call her, “grandkids”. Elizabeth’s family will remember her for the loving, compassionate, and generous spirit that embodied everything she did. She was also extremely caring and would do anything for anyone.
Elizabeth’s family will be holding a service to celebrate her life at a later date. Interment in William Howard Day Cemetery in Harrisburg will be at the family’s convenience. Cremation was private.
Contributions in celebration of Elizabeth’s life can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110, www.Alz.org.
