Elizabeth “Betty” (Dudeck) Gora
Elizabeth “Betty” (Dudeck) Gora, age 70, of Mechanicsburg, PA, lost her 5 ½ year battle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in the comfort of her own home with family by her side.
Born on Thursday, October 11, 1951 in Wilkes Barre, PA, Betty was the youngest of three children of the late John Dudeck and Helen (Sieniawski) Dudeck. Betty was raised and educated in Wilkes Barre, graduating from Plains Memorial High School as part of the class of 1969.
On October 21, 1972, Betty was united in marriage with Dominick Gora, whom she shared 49 years with. Betty was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg.
Betty’s life’s work and greatest joy was being a devoted, loving and caring wife, mother and Mi Mi, as well as a dedicated homemaker. In addition, Betty was a faithful caregiver and advocate for her handicapped sister for the past 28 years. The most important part of her life was her beloved family; she experienced extreme happiness when spending time with them. Betty is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her niece, Lisa Dudeck, in 2015.
Betty is survived by her much loved husband, Dominick, who lovingly took devoted and watchful care of her. Betty is also survived by her children: Stanley Gora and his wife, Nicole, of Duncannon, and their children, Ayden and Zayla; Sarah Tenny and her husband, Gene, of Mechanicsburg, and their children, Ava and Lily; Mary Seaman and her husband, Christopher, of Mechanicsburg. Also surviving is her brother, John Dudeck, and his wife, Joette, of Penn Run; her sister, Marilyn Dudeck, of Mechanicsburg; her sister in law, Jeanette Hannon, and her husband, Charles, of Dillsburg; her nieces, Marissa Dudeck, Susan Hannon and Kate Hannon; her nephews, John Dudeck, Jr. and Jonah Zielinski; and her aunt, Marion Sieniawski, of Wilkes Barre.
All are welcome to join Betty’s family at her viewing on Monday, May 23, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; and her viewing on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian burial beginning at 11:15 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 1 Peter Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; with Reverend Kenneth G. Smith celebrating. Burial with committal service will follow the Mass in Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Mechanicsburg. Betty’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the burial.
