Elizabeth "Betty" Jean (Bixler) Kauffroath

Betty Jean Kauffroath, 81, of Mechanicsburg, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Cumberland Crossings, Carlisle. Born Saturday, April 12, 1930 in Point Marion, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Hattie (Grimm) Bixler.

Having a heart for music, Betty played the piano as an accompanist to her husband, Rev. Dan L. Kauffroath, whom she greatly enjoyed singing with as well. Serving others, alongside her husband in his ministry, gave her great fulfillment. His ministry became her own. Her faith perpetuated a deeper understanding of her own mortality. She made time to enjoy the natural beauty around her. She especially liked the mountains. She spent her last year and a half living near and enjoying the company of her sons: Mike Kauffroath, and his wife Jill, and Tim Kauffroath, both of Mechanicsburg.

She is also survived by a granddaughter, Kimberly Jennings, her husband, Lone, and two great-grandchildren, Kyla and Alexander Jennings, all of Valdosta, GA.; one brother, David Bixler, of Safford, AZ; and one sister, Eleanor Mercer, of Prescott, AZ.

Betty’s family entrusted her care to Myers-Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, (717) 766-3421. Betty’s services were private. She will be laid to rest on her families land. The family suggests contributions to the charity of your choosing to honor her memory.
