Elizabeth “Betty” Jane (Risko) Steele, age 89, of Newville, and formerly of Mechanicsburg and Ellport, died on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Betty was born on Tuesday, February 6, 1926 in Ellport to the late Charles Risko and Elizabeth (Trynovich) Risko. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her four sisters: Mary, Josephine, Helen, and Ann.
Betty’s survivors include her son: Donald and his wife, Rebekah, of Mechanicsburg; her two grandchildren, Andrew Steele and Amanda Steele; her three siblings: Agnes Knoll, Sophia Burnell, and Nick Risko; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was a long time member of Christ Community Church in Camp Hill, where she sang in the choir. She loved music, and enjoyed singing, as well as playing the piano. In her free time, Betty would be found either drawing or reading. Betty was a very proud grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She would often travel to Pittsburgh by train to see her sisters.
All are welcome to join Betty’s family at her graveside service on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Slippery Rock Church Cemetery, 279 Slippery Rock Drive, Ellwood City, PA 16117.
The family respectfully asks that contributions be made in Betty’s memory to help defray her final expenses.
