Our Loss is Heaven’s Gain -

Ellen Marie Barr, age 61, of Mechanicsburg, went home to be with The Lord on Friday, June 18, 2021.  Ellen was born on Sunday, April 17, 1960 in Harrisburg to the late Edward James Barr and Lois Dawn (Wertman) Barr.  In addition to her parents, Ellen is preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Troup.

Ellen’s survivors include her three siblings: Kimberly “Kim” Anne Good and husband, Ralph, of Harrisburg, Jeffrey “Jeff” B. Barr of Dillsburg, and Christopher “Chris” A. Barr of Mechanicsburg; and her six nieces and nephews: Aaron Dettling, Jennie Thompson, Casey Teleucio, Seamus Smith, Kristie Barr and Katie Barr.

Ellen graduated from Cumberland Valley High School.  She retired from Highmark Blue Shield in Camp Hill, after 10 years of service working as a clerk.  Ellen was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg.  She was a person that enjoyed many things about life; Ellen had a love of music as well as a fondness for animals and nature.   Everyone described Ellen as such a kind and loving person that others were instantly drawn to her.  She never knew a stranger - just a friend she hadn’t met yet.  Many have said that, Ellen was the “kindest person they had ever met”.  She will be missed greatly by many people.

All are welcome to join Ellen’s family on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at her viewing from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. with a service beginning at 2:00 p.m., all at Grace United Methodist Church, 216 South Market Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with The Reverend W. Michael Langford officiating.  Friends and family are invited for dessert and coffee at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory), immediately following the service.  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of our parking lots.  Cremation will be private and burial will be at the convenience of the family in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
