E. “Mat” Madalyn (Yohn) Hoover, age 92, of Camp Hill, and formerly of Duncannon, died on Sunday, November 15, 2015. Mat was born on Thursday, July 19, 1923 in Millerstown to the late George Grant Yohn and Erna Ellen (Coates) Yohn. Mat was the widow of Joseph “Joe” Hoover, whom she married on August 13, 1949, and who died on November 1, 2005. In addition to her parents and husband, Mat is preceded in death by her brother, David Yohn; and her two sisters: Winifred Manwiller and Joan Myers.
Mat’s survivors include her sister, Donna Schindler of Mechanicsburg; her two brothers: Roland Yohn and Dennis Yohn, both of Millerstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Mat and Joe spent every moment with each other. She loved her husband deeply and was lost without him. They used to play pinochle together with their family and friends, during which Mat was known to bend the rules. The couple both loved animals, most especially dogs. Mat used to babysit and would always serve spaghetti to those she was watching. She was known for having a sweet tooth and being quite feisty, but most of all, Mat was a true Christian.
All are welcome to join Mat’s family at her graveside service on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Shoop’s Cemetery Garden of Rest, 4400 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17109; with Reverend Dr. Keith A. Blank officiating.
