A Sincerely Nice Man –
Elmer Dale Bennett, age 77, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at Homeland Center on Thursday, December 1, 2016. Dale was born on Wednesday, November 8, 1939 in Sand Fork, West Virginia to the late Elmer Bennett and Ressie (Grose) Bennett. In addition to his parents, Dale is preceded in death by his two brothers: Orval Bennett and Playford Bennett.
Dale’s survivors include his wife of 40 years, Denise Bennett; his son, Todd Bennett and his wife, Tamara “Tammy”, of York; his two step-daughters: Wendy Tatanish and her husband, Jim, of Florida, Cheryl Kuhl of Florida; and his five grandchildren: Jared, Paul, Kayla, Cameron, and Elliot.
Dale worked as a supervisor at Iceland Seafood for many years. He loved his football and baseball, win or lose, especially the Philadelphia Phillies and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Riding his motorcycle and playing his guitar were staples through his life. Dale liked fishing and Cheryl remembers joining him for hours of fun. Later in life, Dale and Denise would enjoy boating together and loved to spend time at Silver Spring’s Flea Market.
Dale’s family will be remembering his life privately. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill.
