Estelle (Alcorn) Chiara, age 86, of Camp Hill , died peacefully at home on Monday, September 22, 2014. Estelle was born on Sunday, November 13, 1927 in Harrisburg to the late Stephen Alcorn and Florence (Shumandan) Alcorn. Estelle was the widow of Joseph “Joe” David Chiara whom she married on November 7, 1948, and who died on February 15, 1999.
Estelle’s survivors include her loving children: Donna Peterson and her husband, Michael, of Camp Hill, Jack Chiara and his wife, Joan, of Camp Hill; her six grandchildren: Kristi Caton and her husband, Bob, and their son, Nicholas, of Mechanicsburg, Ashley Strine and her husband, James, of Shiremanstown, and John, Benjamin, Johanna, and Magdalen Chiara, all of Camp Hill; and her sister, Viola Heberle of Harrisburg.
Estelle graduated from William Penn High School and was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Camp Hill. She absolutely loved reading books, which was obvious to anyone who visited her home. Bowling was an enjoyable pastime for Estelle and she enjoyed rooting for the Phillies. She and her late husband, Joe, were snow birds; enjoying their winters in Florida where the beach was a favorite place to recline. When at home, Estelle enjoyed watching Law & Order SVU, NCIS and The Price is Right. Everyone loved it when Estelle made her famous spaghetti sauce and fudge. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
All are welcome to join Estelle’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Friday, September 26, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Edward Horan officiating. Interment will be private and in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill. Cremation was private.
