Esther Elizabeth (Goodyear) Catts, age 94, of Carlisle, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle on Thursday, May 17, 2018.  Esther was born on Sunday, October 14, 1923 in Grantham, PA to the late William Goodyear and Frances (Sheaffer) Goodyear.  Esther was the widower of Walter Leslie Catts, whom she married on April 24, 1948, and who died on August 31, 2008.  In addition to her parents and husband, Esther is preceded in death by her four brothers: John, William, James, and Robert; and her sister Ruth Pace.

Esther’s survivors include her four children: Thomas W. Catts and his wife, Karen, of Mechanicsburg, Edward J. Catts and his wife, Janet, of Dillsburg, Stephen Walter Catts and his wife, Charlene, of Carlisle, and Barbara E. Rice and her husband, Jerry, of Mechanicsburg; her eight grandchildren: Thomas Jr., Rebecca, Michael, Andrew, Daniel, Jeremy, Jessica, and Julie; her sister, Mary Gens; and many nieces and nephews.

Esther’s relationships with her family were the most important things in her life.  She was a family focused woman who lived a simple life.  The most precious times in her life revolved around her family being together.  Their Christmas gatherings, their picnics at Williams Grove, their birthday parties, and their family reunions were what life was all about to Esther.  She will be deeply missed and will always be remembered.

All are welcome to join Esther’s family at her viewing on Friday, May 25, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. until time of casket closing at 12:45 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.

Esther’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Hoss's Steak & Sea House, 61 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 following the burial.
